Three days to go...

The countdown has begun and in just three short days, my youngest will be going away to college.  I think her major (for now) is "Exercise Science" or something like that - her eventual goal is being a Physical Therapist.  She's gone through extensive physical therapy herself and I think she can empathize and has a desire to help those who are going through it as well.  I fully expect that to change a dozen times, and that's completely fine.  Her bedroom has gone from this...
To this... (I just have to add here, she paid my other daughter a whopping $40 to clean her room.  She got a bargain, let me tell you - my older daughter is a deep cleaning/wall washing diva and you could eat off her floor by the time she was finished with it.)

We've stocked up on everything from cute bedding to Tylenol and Q-tips...

Isn't this the cutest?  She got this from her aunt and uncle - it's a shower caddy for taking her shampoo, etc. with her when she goes in the bathroom.
We all have dreams for our children - faith, strength, happiness, confidence, and the list goes on.  I, being a realistic mother, have my own dreams for my child...

If she comes home having learned how to use both of these things, I think she'll be ready for the REAL world!

You make me laugh! With my kids even when they knew how to use that bottle of laundry detergent they'd still bring a carload full of dirty clothes home. I guess it's nice to have mom take care of you once in awhile!
I bet you love seeing that room sparkling clean but it's sad in a way too. I hope she has a wonderful time at college!!

That's funny, as long as she knows how to do laundry. Empty nest now? What shall you do with your time?

I remember sending my first one out; I cried. Didn't make it any easier when I saw a dad crying his eyes out as well!

It is the strangest feeling, and it can be difficult; but I got through with tons of prayer. It is amazing to watch them set out into the world. I hope it goes well for all of you, friend.

I am sure that you have a slew of emotions going through you right now. It is great when you can be excited right along with her...even though I know it still probably isn't going to be the easiest when it comes to the "goodbyes".

Just remember you have given her the confidence to go out there an to be an amazing young adult. (Some wise lady told me that.) Hugs.

Dear Beth,
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving such a sweet message! What an exciting time for you all...and a bit melancholy at the same time. Seems like we never think they'll grow up...and then they do! I pray that your daughter will have an amazing year...thanks again for stopping by!
Blessings,
Laura

OH I was in Taget a couple weeks ago and saw the moms shopping with their college freshman, and telling them what they would need and why they would need it as their bewildered young adults rolled their eyes and huffed at all the practical-ness that mothers have to offer. It was a real slice of Americana, and high quality entertainment.

I hope your daughter will have a great year at college. You made me LOL at your dreams for her to learn how to use those two things.
