Back to basics...

It has been so long since I've done a blog post I forgot how!  Well, OK, that's not true but it has been awhile.  I think I have A.D.D. - either that or I have procrastinationitis, or appendicitis.  Whenever you hear someone say, "I'm so busy!" don't you just want to roll your eyes and tell them to shut their pie hole?  Mmmmm pie!  See what I mean?  Let's focus here.  UGHHHH.  Last time I checked, we all have the same 24 hours, so basically we're all just making different choices in how to spend them, right?

I keep putting off the things I enjoy the most because those are the things I want to spend the most time on.  I put off blogging because I want the perfect post; I put off e-mailing friends because I want to have it be the perfect e-mail; I put off reading the classics because I know they'll always be there; and I put off going away for the weekend with my husband because it's just not the right time.  NO MORE...maybe...probably.  This is how I spend a lot some of my time...
Yep, playing Farmville.  I mean, seriously, if I don't play Farmville how will I get extra pig slop???  See where I'm coming from?  I thought so.  I am making a few minor major changes around here and I wanted you to be the first to know:

Number 1 - I'm NOT perfect (hence the name of the blog) and I'm not hopefully waiting five weeks between blog posts.  I don't like long posts anyhow.  If I go to a blog and it's VERY long and goes on and on infinitum, I skim it and move on.  We're all so "busy", remember? (eye roll)  Short, sweet, boom, done.

Number 2 - I will take control of my e-mails probably.  You know as well as I do some of these people become our very close friends and I enjoy doing that.  I received an e-mail from a friend just last week and it was the sweetest thing - just a basic "here's what's been going on in a nutshell - hope you're well" type of thing and my first thought was, 'Why can't I do that??'  My e-mail looks like this...
'Why, Beth, you must be head of the CIA or an important inventor or the president of something very important!!' you're thinking.  No, Bath & Body Works and Lands' End just really really like me and want me to stay up-to-date.  Good bye, dumb ads that I signed up for, you're part of my changes.  Ta ta!

Number 3 - I'm going to do my back exercises.  That has nothing to do with blogging or e-mail but I figured I'd just throw that out there.

Number 4 - I've already started this...I'm going back to reading some of the classics.  I just finished "To Kill a Mockingbird" which I read in high school but didn't remember, and am now reading "Anne of Green Gables".  That girl's a hoot!

Finally, Number 4 - I'm going to enjoy this beautiful fall season!  I'm not a big decorator but I like the fall colors so much and I'm a candle fanatic so I put those things together any time the weather begins to change.  Hopefully I'll spend more time in Blogland and visiting my favs.  I still don't really know how to do that - I know there's a "reader" with Google, right?  I usually just type in the name of the blog and go there - there's GOT to be a better way!!

I hope you're having nice weather wherever you are and getting things on your "to do" list finished.

LOL...when people say I'm so busy, I feel like saying, "Well who isn't??" We're ALL busy! Anyway, I love your Fall decorations. In a way they will blend seamlessly with my next blog post which is all about pretty things.:-) And i don't care how busy you are unless you are too busy to visit my farm or send me a bushel. So there.

Yes, there is a better way, I love my google reader! It's so nice for reading people blogs that you want to read regularly. I just stumbled upon it on my own, and managed to figure it out, so I'm sure you could too. googlereader.com and go from there.
And someday I will update my own blog, I promise!

Google reader is my home page when I open mozilla. It does help me keep up. (I actually have iGoogle, so I feed the hamster at the same time...sigh.)

As for to-do lists, I just started using mine again, too. I think it is the end-of-summer reset.

I have a "junk" email account for those companies that need to update me EVERY DAY! Last I checked there were over 1000 emails..maybe I should delete some? I tend to "follow" blogs so they show up on my dashboard and make it easy to read...

Well I can't say anything about farmville, my weakness is farmtown and family feud. Or maybe just facebook in general.
But I enjoy blogging more but the other just seems to be more addicting. lol

I've heard google reader mentioned on blogland about a bazillion times but still haven't looked into it myself, I hear it's great for keeping up with blogs though.
I love Anne of Green Gables, that whole series is my absolute favorite series of books ever and I really look forward to passing them on to my daughter. Hopefully she won't think they're old fashioned.

Ok...I am going to put that on my to do list...find out about google reader. That is on my list right after...respond to your message on FB.

We all understand Beth...life is crazy! But I don't think any of us would be bummed to see more post from you...we all love ya girl!

Oh, yes the time sucker Farmville. I was once an addict then I gave it up for Bejeweled.
Love your candel display.

Glad to see you are back! Loved the post and your new plans.

I picked up an Anne book at the thrift store earlier this year; maybe I'll get it out and start reading. I've loved the movie for a long time.

Funny you mention Facebook. I still avoid it. ;)

Doing back exercises is related to blogging. If your back hurts too much to sit at the 'puter, you cannot blog.

And why don't you look into Buzz... That is as close to Facebook as I get. I am sure my one Follower is bored of my play by play of sewing a garment.

Good to see your post. :)

Love reading your blog! you crack me up! anne of green gables is my all time favorite book series and movie series!! i really hope you enjoy it!. i really need to keep my blogs shorter, i agree about long blogs, but when you are a talker, it's hard to keep them short! lol i bet many people "skim" over mine out of necessity as well! lol by the way, i am NOT busy. i decided to slow down and do what i feel like doing and at the pace i want. what gets done, gets done, what doesn't get done won't stop the world from moving on.....thanks for your funny perspective!

I'm so jealous! As I'm writing this, you have 17 comments...I don't think I've ever had 17 comments on any blog post ever! See, you can go away for weeks and weeks and people still love you, but if I don't post, I lose my whole following! LOL
But let's look at the bright side, we are both faithful to facebook and at least we can be proud of that! lol
