My husband makes homemade tamales usually once or twice a year and since he was off work, he got the ol' cornhusks ready and went to town rustling up some of the best tamales this side of Whereversville. One of the girlfriends and one of the boyfriends didn't totally care for them, but at least they tried them and were very sweet about it. The one said he never had tamales and thought it was a vegetable or something - HILARIOUS! Come join us for our fiesta ~
Homemade guacamole - ole!
COME AND GET IT!

For dessert, we had s'mores and let me tell ya - this is as close to camping as I get. I bought this little s'mores maker at Christmastime and we sure have gotten our $14 worth out of it - it makes kitchen camping a breeze! Here's Allison - this was pretty much her supper since tamales weren't her fav.
We finally finished our evening with a game of Apples to Apples which if you've ever played, is pretty hilarious. I totally won. OK, maybe I didn't actually win, but I came in third or fourth which is just as good, right? OK, that's not true either, I set a time limit and we finally just quit - but we did have fun!
Having kids this age isn't always a barrel of monkeys (especially when it's around 2 a.m. and they're not home yet) so it's nice to kick back sometimes, readjust the priorities (theirs, not mine) and remember to fit a family night in here and there. ♥
